NOTICE: as of 1st December 2023, our new location is 5 Ruesink Street in the Westwood Business Park.
Kyle Butt, and his childhood friend Bjorn Cowdrey, have always had an interest in cars, motorbikes, and the automotive industry in general.
After working many years in workshops of other businesses in Marlborough, they saw an opportunity to offer a wide range of vehicle servicing and repairs at a high standard at a very reasonable price.
In 2013 they partnered to form Westwood Mechanical.
In 2018 Bjorn left and followed an interest in other business opportunities, although both still remain very close friends with a wide range of mechanical knowledge often shared between them.
After finishing college, Kyle became employed at Blenheim Toyota as a general hand, which lead to a position in the workshop and eventually an apprenticeship. He spent six years in the workshop before moving to a position in the parts department, and then to the role as Service Advisor.
Kyle left Blenheim Toyota with training in multiple areas and a NZQA qualification.
Since 2018, Kyle has been the sole owner of Westwood Mechanical, continuing to build it up.
After 10 years trading in Colemans Road, Kyle found the opportunity to purchase and expand the business into the new Westwood Business Park, and now Westwood Mechanical is running out of a new built-for-purpose shop in Ruesink Street.
Kyle shares his life with a wife and a beautiful son, enjoying semi-rural living on a lifestyle block where his wife breeds her miniature horses.
Andrew (better known as Andy) started working at Westwood Mechanical in 2018. He is the workshop foreman, a fully qualified automotive technician and master/diagnosis tech.
Andy spent 13 years at a local franchise, where he received extensive training in all aspects of automotive repair, 5 of which as the workshop controller.
If Andy cant fix your vehicle, then the vehicle is destined for retirement!
Andy is a family man with three beautiful children, and a loving wife. They have just started their own childcare business.
Sam has been employed by Westwood Mechanical since 2020 and is working through his mechanical apprenticeship.
Sam is a young local who spent many years working at Repco before wanting to try his hand as an automotive technician.
Sam enjoys anything outdoors, camping, snowboarding, 4WDing, and just enjoying Marlborough.
